Since VEC Season 9 we have had the Academy series to take care of new users. Making sure they knew the in and outs of our rules set.
For 53 (FIFTY-THREE) seasons we had 4 or 2 race seasons, evaluating drivers.
In June of 2021 we changed the series to not be a racing series - but merely a written test. Since then 885 users have taken the license test, some failed and tried again but most actually made it through the first time.
2024 now sees another (welcomed) change into how these licenses are being used. We have gone back to season 9 of VEC that was hosted in 2017 used the data from the seasons until 16 (2023/2024) and also used the feeder series (with the exception of GT3 endurance, as it was not multiclass) and adjusted everyones "rated" license.
The following was used to determine a driver/license
Platinum:
Any driver that have won a VEC Division 1 championship drivers must have participated in more than one race in the entry.
Gold:
Any driver that have won a VEC Division 1 race.
Silver:
Any driver that have been in top 3 in a VEC Division 1 race, gotten a win in a VEC Division 2 race, VLMS race or VLMC race.
Bronze:
Any other driver that participated in a VEC, VLMS or VLMC race.
Rookie:
A driver that completed the SRC License test, but have yet to finish a season in VEC or any of its feeder series.
License test:
A temporary usergroup that shows if a driver is being evaluated
