As part of our ongoing efforts to welcome new drivers from all corners of the sim racing world, we're excited to introduce a provisional license system that helps align skill levels across major platforms: iRacing, Low Fuel Motorsport (LFM), and Le Mans Ultimate (LMU). This does not mean you can skip our "Academy" written test though.
This system allows us to better place drivers into appropriate classes and ensure competitive, clean, and rewarding racing from day one — whether you're new to VEC or returning after a break.
This mapping isn’t designed to gatekeep — it’s designed to place you where your racecraft can shine, and help us build grids that are fun, challenging, and fair for everyone.
While provisional licenses help us onboard and seed new drivers, we are equally committed to developing and rewarding performance within the VEC ecosystem itself.
That means:
See you on track.

How It Works
When you apply to race in VEC, your provisional license will be based on your ranking from one of the supported platforms:| VEC License Tier | iRacing (Rank + iRating) | LFM (ACC Elo) | LMU Driver Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Provisional Gold | A-license + 4500+ | 4000+ Elo | Platinum (P0–P3) |
| Provisional Silver | A/B-license + 3000–4499 | 2500–3999 Elo | Gold (G0–G3) |
| Provisional Bronze | B/C-license + 2000–2999 | 1500–2500 Elo | Silver (S0–S3) |
| Rookie | <2000 iRating / D-license | <1500 Elo | Bronze (B0–B3) |
But What About the VEC License System?
We want to be crystal clear:While provisional licenses help us onboard and seed new drivers, we are equally committed to developing and rewarding performance within the VEC ecosystem itself.
That means:
- Drivers who perform cleanly, consistently, and competitively in VEC races will progress through our internal license tiers, even if they didn’t start with a high iRating or Elo.
- These provisional licenses will be reviewed after Season 18, with future placements based more heavily on your in-season performance and conduct within VEC events.
In Summary
- When you join SRC to race in VEC you still need to go through our SRC Academy, this means you firstly have to introduce yourself, take the written license test and then apply for a Provisional license.
- New drivers will now be seeded into Provisional Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Rookie tiers based on their iRacing, LFM, or LMU stats.
- This ensures fair competition and better racing for everyone.
- Provisional licenses will be re-evaluated after Season 18, and the VEC license system remains a core feature that rewards long-term, in-league excellence.
See you on track.
