@VLMC manager

Some important news re VLMC, before we announced VLMC one thing we considered was the shorter race distance may not be for everyone, as we are all endurance nuts after all.

So in case we didn't reach full sign up, we have a back up plan, and we will now put that plan in place.

VLMC will now no longer require driver swaps. Meaning that it will be completely up to teams if they want to run with multiple drivers or if people would prefer to drive solo. For teams that want to run multiple drivers in a race there will be no time applied in pitstops for driver swap, so no advantage is gained by running solo.

As you guys have already signed up I thought it was only fair to let you know first so that you have a chance to sign up additional cars before everyone else. (It won't be locked down to just you guys so if others catch on and sign up, it is what it is) I'll post a public announcement in 24 hours.

Cars will only require 1 driver to be signed up, but the normal maximum drivers rule will still be in effect, and the car will still be in the championship not the drivers as per normal VEC.

If you are removing drivers from a car that is already signed up, please use the line up manager first to remove them from the existing car.

Before signing up multiple cars with a single driver strongly consider if absences will still be able to be managed. Attendance is vital and poor attendance could have future ramifications on sign ups and division placements.

Entries will still be limited, the cap remains at 20 LMP3 and 25 GT3. There is currently more availability in LMP3 so perhaps consider prototype first.

I think this will be an exciting change and I'm looking forward to pre season late September.

Cheers

Shawn

Hey guys.
So basically I don’t have access to the VLMC server passwords nor the workshop to download the car liveries without having the VLMC season pass, right?
I’d like a clarification, please, because im not a driver.
Thanks.

Correct, you would actually need to have gone through srca and get licenced to get access as well as having the season pass.

Your drivers are allowed to pass on skin templates, but yeah they can not give the mod or server details.

I understand what you say Shawn, but the new SRC rules, both for VEC and VLMC, allow a Team Manager not to be a SRC licensed driver, as in my case.
The thing is that I can only access the password of the TS server, the password of the practice server and/or download the liveries of our own car only if I buy the Season pass, but I can’t buy it because only SRC licensed drivers can.
So What’s the point in allowing a non SRC licensed driver of being Team Manager if we can’t do our job during the championship, unless we become a licensed drivers?

Define new rule?
You have not been forced to have a license, i believe since we introduced licenses..
Also who is to define what managers do here, i dont think we´ve ever advertised that "become a manager now, and get all the perks and access like Season pass and licensed drivers get"

Like i explained to VEC - a lot of people asked to get a simplified version where they didnt have to enter "Season pass" subforum to get access to TS and practice server and then licensedforum to get access to the "real" servers. That then means you now need 2 usergroups to get that access in VEC, and yes the exact same thing happening here. You need both a license and a season pass.
You dont need to have a license for buying the season pass btw, but that is beside the point - the important point is that we dont want to give access to everyone who get access buy buying the season pass - i dont want unlicensed drivers on our servers, its as simple as that.
What exactly do you need as a manager that can only be obtained on the server?
4.9 Spectating is not allowed; drivers are only allowed to join the server as a spectator 1-3 laps or 5 mins before they are about to do a driver swap with their team-mate.
4.9.1 Only the race director, the broadcast team and people with authorization from the SRC Stewards are allowed to be in the server as a spectator. Anyone else found to be spectating will either receive a penalty, a race ban or may even be excluded from the championship.
So again, what exactly did we say a manager could or couldn´t do here?
Do we want every team to have an extra spot on TS and in game, because then we´d better kick out some of the signed up teams
A manager is the one who handles the sign up and management of the team here, so adding and removing drivers. You can still get motec from drivers, watch live timing etc.

Jimmi, thank you for the clarification.
As Team Manager I don’t need to access the forums to drive the cars on the servers, but I do need to have the IP addresses and passwords of the practice and real servers, as well as the IP address and password of the TS, so I can remind my drivers in case of forgetfulness or emergency, in addition to all information that is only delivered in restricted forums.

Sorry but no you don’t ;)
The IP is not shared at all - there are names and passwords - and passwords does change over a season.
It’s clearly stated in the threads that these should not be shared. As we need drivers to understand how to get the information.

Sorry mate, are you saying that TMs has nothing to do within the Championship or during the races or even between races?

I can think of plenty you can do that does not require specific access to our mod or servers or ts.

This won't be changing and there will be no exceptions to these rules.

Sorry for coming across harsh on this but that is the way it works here, and plenty of non driver managers have made do without this access.

Think about using discord voice or something for example, drivers can be in both ts and discord, you can still organise schedules, discuss setup etc.
