This thread is for the general discussion of the Article Season 17 announcement. Please add to the discussion here.

The Virtual Endurance Championship (hereafter VEC)
index.php

Quick notes on changes:
- Limited access, going down to max 45 entries per division and max 2 divisions
- This includes limiting the classes: Hypercar: 15 LMP2: 10, GT3: 20
- 8 rounds
- Preseason BOP, submit motec for cars.

Team cheat sheet (what do teams need):
- 2 (up to 5) drivers (See LICENSE requirements)
- Those 2 drivers need to have a season pass and a SRC license
- Each team needs a manager, the manager will be assigned to the one that signs up the car
- To sign up before the public sign up, teams can purchase premium or premium+ team pass. But it is NOT required.

Points:
Season 17 will continue with participation points, each team will receive these (depending on which division) and also points per finish. After every other round, the best and worst scored teams in each class from the last 2 races switch division. (and yes this means one championship per class).

Mod:
We will be using the official Studio 397 GT3 and LMP2 cars and additionally due to lack of releases we are using Advanced Simulation Modding Groups 2 Hypercars (only those 2 as we do not want to start checking purchases with URD again).
We will also be using some unofficial and some official tracks, see schedule.

Cars:
Hypercar Ferrari 499p
Hypercar Porsche 963
LM-P2 Oreca O7
LM-GT3 Aston Martin Vantage
LM-GT3 BMW M4
LM-GT3 Corvette C8.R
LM-GT3 Ferrari 488 Evo
LM-GT3 McLaren 720s
LM-GT3 Mercedes AMG
LM-GT3 Porsche 911 GT3R

Season Pass:
We require season pass by users this is to cover expenses to a growing server farm, plugins, commentators, upgrades and other unforeseen updates.
Each driver needs to purchase the Season Pass

IMPORTANT: You are able to gift this to a friend, go to the bottom of the account upgrade page and enter the person into the search box. Hit proceed and then choose the pass he/she should get. DO NOT just transfer money to paypal and ask for users to get upgraded - this will NOT be done!

Sign-Up Fee:
There is no sign up fee, however there is 4 tiers of teams here:
Basic sign up: Free sign up, no additional benefits
Team premium: Early bird sign up - 24 hours ahead of public sign up, submit livery 3 times during the season, 10 line up changes.
Team premium+: Early bird sign up - 24 hours ahead of public sign up, unlimited livery submissions, teams may use window file, unlimited line up changes.

Required License:
  • Managers are not required to have a license to sign up a team. However, the team manager cannot race or gain access unless they have a license and a season pass.
  • Drivers must have at least Rookie license, however see license requirements further down as drivers are limited into what classes they can run.
Divisions:
Multiple divisions will be used if we are oversubscribed. The entries into each division will be determined by previous results, on and off-track behaviour, ratings and pre-season performance. Also previous seasons dedication (show vs do not show) also weighs in. But we will host preseason events that will be used to make sure everyone will start in the correct division.
Every second race the last 2 races points gets calculated and divisions are re-sorted with standings (after the 2 races, not in total). See rules, points and participation points.
Remind you that lower tier divisions might not get a broadcast but timewise these divisions does cost significantly more time between races, being incident reviews and line up changes.
Please note: that after 40-50 entries VEC management can decide to close the sign up by having everyone after that go onto a reserve list, to avoid having a 2nd division if we deem that to become to small.

Pre-Season:

See above, we will host 1 pre-season events that will be used to evaluate our decisions.

Max Drivers and Teams:
Each division can hold 45 teams. We will be limiting the division count (2) and will close sign up as soon as we reach our max entries. Class sign up will be locked when we find the limit of numbers in each class is reached. Any additonal entries signed up will be offered reserve slots.
Each team can have up to five drivers, engineer slot has been removed due to very limited use.

Prizes:
Instead of prizes, we will get a trophy designed for the winning team.

Classes:
Hypercar
- The new premier class, all Hypercar teams will be monitored during preseason and any unacceptable driving will lead to demotion to LMP2 or GT3
Requirements on entries: Required (min): 1 Platinum, 1 Gold OR 2 Silver drivers once that requirement is meet: 2 or 3 Bronze drivers and max 1 Rookie will be allowed.
LM-P2 - You must be prepared to make multiple overtakes per lap on slower cars without putting others in danger. You must learn the art of timing your passes to lessen your time loss without affecting the races of others, but also make sure you are not in the way of the faster class.
Requirements on entries: Required (min): 1 Platinum, 1 Gold, 1 Silver or 2 Bronze drivers once that requirement is meet: max 2 Rookies will be allowed.
LM-GT3 - This is just as demanding as the other class, with less grip and a need to keep an eye on your mirrors. Spatial awareness and an ability to allow other cars to pass with minimal time loss are critical skills.
Requirements on entries: Class is open for new comers

BOP:
The constant talk about BOP will be ignored, we are doing our best to keep cars very close, and will continue to do so. You can pick ANY car you want, do not pick the slowest and then complain about it, but don't pick the fastest just for pure speed as it most likely will get adjusted. If you can't deal with us making BOP calls, please do not sign up. There are other leagues that don't go through the hasle of keeping cars at same level. Go race there!
If you are still interested feel free to submit motec before even signing up - as soon as you have season pass you have access to the already massive changed cars. You can do so by sending it in contact staff.

Broadcasts:
We will provide live coverage of our Division 1 race and division 1 ONLY!
Note: Income from Premium and Premium plus is always used for hardware and improvements, however since we got D1 covered we will see on the total income of these passes to see if we can get an extra machine for D2

Sign-Up:
Team Premium and Premium+ opens: 26 july at 18:00
Team basic opens: 27 july at 18:00
After this date, we will review and post the final entry list on our website. Please note that drivers will be required to have the Season Pass by this point.

Livery Submission:
Will close 17 August
  • We do NOT allow any fake sponsorships on cars, only use logo´s that you are allowed to use, we may require to see confirmation on this.
  • Follow albedo rules (basic: don't use RGB below 10, 10, 10 or above 220, 220, 220) (on each template there is a layer for this, place anything below this layer!)
  • Do not resize templates (4096x4096)
Car change:
None

Workshop:
Is available for those owning season pass, see "Resources" in top menu and find Season 17 Workshop

DISCLAIMER:
- While we strive to have track marshall in divisions for all races, there can and probably will be periods with limited live track marshall - a track marshal cant add penalties, cant remove penalties - only review code 80's.
- While we also strive to broadcast D1 all season there could be clashes with real life job
- See "broadcasts" above, read it and understand it.
If you cant agree to the above and feel the need to complain about this, then dont sign up - if you sign up you agree to these terms and conditions!

We do not want to limit drivers, however we want to limit teams so they can't just sign up in a higher class without the knownledge and speed that is required in those classes.
Note that no you can't sign up with "hired drivers" that will not race, we will have a requirement of participation and if that is not meet the team will be removed. No excuses for cheating your way into a class.

Just looking for some clarification - in LMP2 do we need to have One Platinum driver, One Gold driver and then we can have either One sliver and/or two Bronze drivers....

Or can we driver LMP2 without the Platinum and Gold driver and just have the the One Silver and the Two Bronze drivers??

Cus we are reading it a bit differently...

Let me know if i need to rewrite it a bit cus it hard to write out "loud" what the "problem" is...

You need either 1 Platinum, gold or silver driver or two bronze drivers minimum. I hope this clears it up

Thank you for answering but i would like to have an official answer from Jimmi...
You do you. I doubt Jimmi's answer will be much more than just quoting my post. I helped out with deciding these requirements and it would obviously be unfair to expect every LMP2 entry to have a race winner and a champion in the car :).

Please see updated requirements on licenses.

Hello, we would like to enter a crew in LMP2 with 2 Bronze drivers and 2 Rookie Drivers.
But for the first race (test race August 24) we will have 1 bronze driver absent.

Can we still participate in the test race with 1 bronze and 2 rookies?
Knowing that after round 0 the entire lineup will be Bronze.

Does participation in the test round allow you to go from rookie to bronze?

thank's

You are misreading or misunderstanding something: Licenses will be applied ONCE a year and that is before the season. During a season the licenses will remain the same, so if you are a rookie now, you are a rookie until the end of the season.
You can race with 1 Bronze and 2 rookies in the test race, as long as these REQUIRED drivers are racing in your team and not a "fake" "temporary" way to get into the class. The entries will be removed without warning if this is the case.
But Preseason is usually just to make sure divisions are correct and that entries can get some practice.

As i just said in the contact staff ticket, It is not ready, we are fixing the hypercars.
I am trying to get it released today or tomorrow latest.
Just an update on this. We have fixed quite a few things on the Hypercars, making them more realistic in terms of engine, laptimes and grip.
Right now I need to make sure the LMP2 is up to par with being in the middle and also prepare the VLMS version. If it is released today it will be very late, if not (and please expect this) late tomorrow afternoon. This will include a server to practice on.

Workshop uploaded and released. VEC menu > Downloads > here
Practice server is being set up now, see race server thread inside Season pass forum.
If there is any issues feel free to report them, we have slowed the Hypercars significantly down and should now be realistic laptimes, though we had to speed it up slightly to get it to not be as slow as the LMP2.

Hello Jimmi, though i am holding a Season Pass, i can access the Season Pass Forum but i can't See the content of the threads in this to see the race server Details. In fact i can't access any thread there. It says it becomes accessible when you have a Season Pass and signed up a Team.

Thank you in advance

Ah of course you are right. It is only when you are signed up to a team you get access to the server. Do you recall last season password? then you can access the server.

I´ll get a temp thread set up to Season pass owners.

Done "Season pass before season" forum is created in there you can see the race server details.

To see the workshop, you have to go to downloads and from there read the changelogs, not in the forum as i wont be moving that thread.
